The
High School Building Committee met on Thursday, May 8th to begin
planning for procurement of an Owner’s Project Manager. The Massachusetts’s School
Building Authority (MSBA) has advised Wayland to begin this process in
anticipation of conducting a Feasibility Study.
The
HSBC reviewed its 2004 Project Manager procurement which lines up well with the
draft guidelines from MSBA. The
Project Manager hired for the Preliminary Design Project in 2004 was Turner
Construction. Turner has withdrawn
from the K-12 educational facilities business, necessitating a new
search.
Joy
Buhler, Wayland’s School Business Administrator was designated the Procurement
Administrator for the school district, as required by MSBA regulations. MSBA also requires that the School
Committee Chairman and the Town Administrator be included on the HSBC. Barb Fletcher and Fred Turkington have
been added as ex officio members to meet this requirement.
Wayland has submitted the
Initial Compliance Certification, Enrollment Questionnaire, and Building
Committee Form to the MSBA. These
documents are available on the HSBC website and at the Wayland Public
Library.
The
HSBC has recently redesigned its web site into an easy-to-navigate format. The Wayland community is invited to
check in often to learn about the progress on the Wayland High School project at
waylandschoolcommittee.org/whs/hsbc/index.htm.
