Wayland High School Construction Update

Week of 5/16/2011

The following is an overview of construction activities for the coming week:

The site will be  open on Saturdays 5/14 and 5/21/2011

Buildings A & B - Construction activities this week will be similar to last week, with exterior masonry and metal siding. curtain wall at Building B, interior drywall at both buildings and MEP rough-in. Interior finish work has begun; we have started painting, ceramic tile and acoustic tile ceilings.

Wastewater treatment plant  -    Exterior masonry wall construction will continue as well as  installation of roof framing and decking. With the road at the corner near the Math/English building being split, we remind drivers and pedestrians to be extra careful when moving through this area. We have added signage to help with this.

Fieldhouse  - Skylight replacement is complete .  We will also place concrete for the lower level locker room floor slab during the week. We are also framing interior walls and installing rough MEP systems. The Fieldhouse will continue to be off-limits to non-construction personnel  throughout the construction phase. Construction fencing is in place to secure this work area.

We are planning to complete some minor sitework in the grass areas adjacent to the pool parking lot over the next few weeks. Work will take place mid-day to avoid disrupting school arrival and departure traffic.

Temporary construction lighting will NOT be shut off at night; the lights will remain on to deter trespassing and vandalism.

Looking ahead to Summer 2011, we are planning the following activities to start as soon as school ends:

                - Pool parking lot redevelopment, this parking lot will be closed for construction for the duraction of the summer break

                - Site utility services under the driveway up to the wastewater treatment plant - this work will require us to close the driveway and any access to the rear parking lots for most of the summer break

We apologize for any inconvenience resulting from these activities.

Regards,
