Chairman Lea Anderson called the fifth meeting of the HSBC to order at 7:10 p.m.
HMFH Architects, Inc. made a presentation to the HSBC and answered questions.
Discussion – The HSBC reviewed references. Each member of the HSBC then ranked the four final architects. The composite ranking was:
1. HMFH Architects, Inc.
2. Design Partnership of Cambridge (DPC)
3. Symmes Maini & McKee Associates (SMMA)
4. The Office of Michael Rosenfeld (OMR)
Each member articulated his or her reasons for the ranking. A lengthy discussion on the four firms ensued.
Motion - A motion to rank HMFH first was made by Eric Sheffels and seconded by Brian Chase.
Vote – Seven in favor; none opposed; one abstention.
Motion – A motion to rank DPC second was made by Cindy Lombardo and seconded by Eric Sheffels.
Vote – Seven in favor; one opposed.
Motion - A motion to rank SMMA third was made by Eric Sheffels and seconded by Brian Chase.
Vote – Eight in favor; none opposed.
The group discussed the next steps. Joe Lewin, Eric Sheffels, Fred Knight, Dick Amster, and Lea Anderson offered to meet with HMFH on Tuesday Feb. 17 to start the contract negotiation. The HSBC directed them to discuss all sub-consultants, and to get further information on the proposed design team.
Minutes – A motion was made by Jim Howard and seconded by Steve Tise to approve the minutes of HSBC meeting #4 on Feb. 11, 2004.
Vote - Eight in favor; none opposed.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 p.m.
The next meeting of the HSBC is scheduled for Thursday Feb. 26, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room off the High School Commons.
