2010-06-09: School Committee outlines Superintendent search process
In preparation for Superintendent Gary Burton's retirement at the end of the upcoming 2010-2011 school year, the School Committee has held discussions and spoken with several recruiting firms and others familiar with searches to outline the following search process.
  1. Develop search firm request for proposals: June
  2. Hire search firm: July
  3. Work with search firm to develop process details and timeline: July-August
  4. Solicit public input: Fall 2010
  5. Recruit candidates: Fall 2010
  6. Create citizen evaluation committee to advise School Committee: Fall 2010
  7. Evaluate candidates and hire new Superintendent: Fall/Winter 2010

The School Committee's next regular meeting is Monday, June 21, at 7:00pm in the School Committee's conference room on the second floor of the Town Building. As always, we will begin and end our meeting with a public comment period.
