2009-11-19: Thank you At Special Town Meeting last evening, Wayland residents approved the High School project with a vote of 1,481 yes, 95 no, and 1 abstention (94%), affirming the 70%-30% result at the polls on Tuesday (unofficially, 2,602 yes, 1,115 no). First, the School Committee would like to thank the residents of Wayland for your overwhelming endorsement. Appreciating the financial impact of the project, you nonetheless agreed that the need is real and that the time is right. We look forward to delivering a project worthy of your support. Second, the School Committee would like to extend a special note of gratitude to the members of the High School Building Committee. Your considerable expertise, incredible thoughtfulness, simultaneous grasp of both the big picture and countless details, and selfless contribution of valuable time and energy is an immeasurable gift to the Town, and we are most fortunate to be in receipt of that gift. We look forward to supporting your continuing efforts. As a reminder, Town Meeting continues tonight with important business including the future of the Town Center project.
