2009-09-09: Welcome back, retreat summary, and 2009-2010 overview
The School Committee welcomes everyone back to school after what we hope was an enjoyable, relaxing, and recharging summer!

On Monday, June 15th, the School Committee held a Retreat to provide the Committee with an opportunity to step back from regular matters and consider higher levels issues facing the district. This discussion will help inform the Administrators as they and the School Committee develop the district’s short and long term goals. The Retreat was moderated by Glenn Koocher, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, and covered the following topics.
  • Long Range Strategic Planning
  • Differentiated Instruction
  • Balance of Curricular and Co-Curricular Program
  • Planning for Administrative Turnover
  • Additional Revenue Sources
  • Committee Transparency
A summary of the Retreat discussion can be found at http://www.waylandschoolcommittee.org/details/2009-07-28_retreat-summary.htm.

At the next scheduled meeting, on September 21st, the Committee will discuss the district’s short and long term goals for the 2009-2010 school year. If you have input you would like to submit to the Committee about these goals, please feel free to do so prior to the meeting using info @ waylandschoolcommittee.org. As always, we are setting aside time for community community input during the initial and closing comment periods of the meeting.

Thank you for your attention,
Wayland School Committee
