Superintendent Search Information


The search firm
The School Committee selected Future Management Systems ("FMS") as the firm who will assist the Committee with the search process for the District's next Superintendent. FMS, located in Beverly MA, has thirty years of direct experience working with non-profit organizations, corporations, educational institutions and all levels of government in the areas of strategic planning, leadership and executive searches and organizational development.

The anticipated timeline
The Committee and FMS established a timeline which includes the following milestones:
  • FMS develops Leadership Profile - During Oct/Nov
  • School Committee forms Search Committee - By November 15th
  • FMS recruits and receives candidate applications - By November 19th
  • Search Committee screens applications and recommends finalists to School Committee - By Early January
  • School Committee interviews final candidates - During mid/late January
  • School Committee appoints next Superintendent - By mid February
Community input
As part of the recruiting process, FMS developed a Leadership Profile that reflects information gathered from the community and represents the optimal "fit" factors that are desired for the leadership position. To gather this community input, FMS conducted telephone interviews, focus groups, and an online survey.

Search Committee
The School Committee formed a Search Committee responsible for reviewing applications, conducting screening interviews, and recommending final candidates to the School Committee. The Search Committee is composed of the following representatives.
